The Garcinia cambogia plant has been used in Sri Lanka for many years. It is a small, sour tropical fruit used traditionally as a condiment and to prevent the formation and increase the release of intestinal gas. This tropical plant is native to Sri Lanka and South-East Asia. The fruit pulp and rind have long been used in Asian countries as a condiment and food preservative. The skin of the fruit contains a chemical called hydroxycitric acid (HCA).
